budgeting sheeet
For this project we didn't need a budgeting sheet. This was mainly because we didn't spend any money on anything. This was as a result of being able to hire all the equipment we needed from the college skills department, and also all the costumes where previously owned.

Initial Idea

We decided as a group to make a mockumentary in a similar style to that of ‘The Office’ a funny and comedic take on the more serious documentary of spending time on a fictitious film set where we take to a few members of the cast and crew. we talk about there daily lives and struggles of working with people they may not get on with.

Evaluation of DepicT

Evaluation of My Performance

I feel I have taken an active role in our group assignment to create a short film for the depicT film contest. We created a funny take on a serious documentary. We felt this approach was different to others that would also do the task as there were a lot of artistic interpretations but felt we needed to bring back an old format of filming while adding comedy. During the idea choosing stage we all placed in our thoughts and created a list of great ideas and we all settled on the ‘Mockumentary’ idea. We also looked at the list of jobs and tasks we had to complete within the time frame and we split the jobs fairly and gave certain jobs that we had previously been involved in. my part of the group was to source the paper work and fill it out effectively and to a high professional standard. I was also a star in the movie as I had previously acted in a short piece at my high school. I feel the group worked really well together as we are good friends and took each other’s opinions on the way the film was framed and pictured and the ideas of the script and how to improve the delivery of our lines for maximum effectiveness. We also managed to get all of the work done in a timely and extremely detailed manor to finish before the hand in date.

DepicT! My Top 3

3. Keep Walking.
http://www.depict.org/2012/keep-walking/ This short film from the 2012 short list uses a lot of different camera angles such as low angle and high angles. They also use a lot of stop motion to show the time passing. This is incredibly moving as you can see how the world changes form a day to day bases. the story is of a 2D man that travels around London mixing stop motion animation with real life backdrops in real time. He shows the hustle and bustle of the city where time moves quickly and the trip to the beach where time is slow and you are all alone.

2. Oor Selfie.
A recently new entry for this year this short film shows how technology has perhaps past the older generations. The film maker has recorded it in the style of a documentary. He interviews an old couple that has clearly has never used or may have never seen technology such as this as he asks them to take a 'selfie'. This is a recently new term and action since the popularity of  smartphones and handheld communication. they use both the combination of the still camera directed at the couple seeing there reaction and talking to it while the voice over of the interviewer is heard but never seen. They also use the video form the camera on the Ipad that is handed to the couple is also used as you can see in there face their confusion and how they feel about the device and how they would take a selfie giving this video a very personal feel as this could possibly be anyone's grandparents experiencing this for the first time.

1.  Geoff, World Destoryer.
http://www.depict.org/2002/geoff-world-destroyer/ Geoff is a lonely man that creates a home made armored vessel that destroys a lot of the world and all he wants is a packet of cheeses and onion crisps, a talk with the Dali lama and a hug. this is an emotional tale that spans across many years. As a lonely man it can seem difficult to deal with things when it comes to human contact and so when he is threatened feels he needs more help and guidance and because he is hungry everything seems much harder and the world is against him. it is a very cleverly animated short film.
